About Radio Los Santos:
Radio Los Santos is this Grand Theft Auto soundtrack's West Coast hip hop radio station broadcasting out of the West Coast hip hop capital, Los Santos.
The station is hosted by Julio G (voiced by himself, Julio Gonzalez). Julio G is in real life a Los Angeles based hip hop DJ who has lent his talents to various radio stations over the years, most notably to KDAY, a station broadcasting hip hop and R&B out of Los Angeles, California.
Although this radio station is supposed to play the modern hip hop of the 1990s (as opposed to what is played on radio station Playback FM, much of what is played on Radio Los Santos can be considered to be part of the golden age of hip hop, which ran roughly from the late 1980s to early 1990s. All the tracks on Radio Los Santos were released during the period 1988-1992.
This radio station's soundtrack is dominated by songs by the group N.W.A. and its former members Dr. Dre, Ice Cube and Eazy-E (in total 8 out of 16 tracks).
The track "Express Yourself" by N.W.A. appears on the Radio Los Santos soundtrack and uses samples from the track "Express Yourself" by Charles Wright & The Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band, which can be heard on radio station Master Sounds 98.3.
